The Chickens!

So my landlord's brother A lives down the road about a mile and has over 100 chickens.  He mostly sells the eggs to a local market but he knows how much I love chickens and has started saving some eggs for me every week.  I've gone twice now to pick up chicken, duck, and goose eggs.  He's got nine geese, a couple dozen ducks, three new peacock hatchlings, and is looking to get turkeys next.  He's the NICEST guy ever and I love spending time over his house, loving up his flock!

This is how I hope to spend my future weekends!

Duck egg!  Delish!

Parakeet hatchling!

Still warm from the nesting boxes!

A feeding the girls some of our leftover bread, strawberry bits, and lettuce.

These goslings were half that size only two weeks ago!

Look at that smile!  He had fun - it's a done deal.  We plan on having a small flock wherever we end up next!

Duckling (just hatched, still wet!), the empty egg behind him, and a hatching-in-progress!

Happy me with the duckling!

"Chicken whispering" to an adopted hen.  I love these girls!

Sorry for the bad quality photo.  This is last week's tablet photo of our egg haul.  The gigantic white one is a goose egg.  The bluish is a duck egg.  The brown, cream, and pink ones are chicken eggs.  This week we got two duck eggs, one goose, and 21 chicken eggs!
